The decision to become a real estate investor was one that you planned out. You didn’t just dive in on a whim after watching one of the many house flipping shows. You did your research, you looked into getting a real estate coach (whether you did it or not!), and you did your homework the best you could. But sometimes the road to becoming a real estate investor is littered with more potholes than smooth surfaces, and maybe you’ve gotten frustrated.

You leave phone messages that are not being returned. You go out into the neighborhood, but get more doors closing on you than opening. You wonder how anyone made a living as a door-to-door salesman back in the early 1900’s. There is no hiding the fact you are feeling discouraged. The urge to call it quits is strong. It just may be for the best for you to shelve that dream of working for yourself, tuck that desire away and get back to reality of life in your cubicle where you put in your daily 8 working for someone else.

Before you go any further down despair drive give yourself a moment to think this out. Did you ever hear that quote by Michael Jordan? “I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” You have just taken a few shots, it is time to rethink your game and get back out there.

Gather a support team around you in the form of family, friends, co-workers, and colleagues. Plan a brainstorming session and get ideas. Find a mentor in a local business person whom you admire. Rethink the training you took and look at other real estate classes. Maybe partner up with someone you know who has the same hopes as you and work together.

It can be tough out there when you decide to become a real estate investor but the rewards will be worth the work. Now hit the showers and get ready for a new day.
