Owners of Blighted Property Shamed Online

One city in eastern Pennsylvania is taking on owners of neglected property… online. The mayor of Reading recently announced a new online “Wall of Shame,” featuring blighted properties that are scheduled to be torn down unless they are fixed up. The site includes the property owner’s name, photos and the address of the property. The city is taking on these derelict property owners head on. So far, 60 properties have been identified, with 10 officially in the process of being designated as blighted. That means if the owners don’t take any action to fix up the property, it will be torn down. This just represents another creative way that online resources are being used in the world of real estate.
