Pan Can Purplestride Event

Hey it’s Josh Cantwell,

Hope you are having an awesome day.  This post has two purposes. First, I'm going to ask for your help…… in fact I’m practically going to beg you for help. Second, I’d like to say thanks to everyone who has supported me and TEAM ACT over the past 3 years in support of The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Over the past 3 years we’ve gotten even more heavily involved with PURPLESTRIDE and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.  I’d love your support again this year as we raise money and awareness for this important cause.  Purplestride Cleveland Walk Run is June 21st 2014  at Voinovich Park (downtown near Rock Hall of Fame).

Everyone likes to root for the underdog and in the world of deadly diseases, those who are diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer are the underdog.  Its a heavy weight fight that most pan can patients don’t win.  This horrible disease is the 4th leading cause of cancer death.  The survival rate for those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer is just 6% after 5 years.  I was fortunate to be one of the few who made it.  These videos tell my story.

The CEO of the Cleveland Clinic featured our story in his quarterly address to all his hospital staff, employees and doctors, and so……I feel a personal obligation to help those who are not as fortunate as I was.  Will you help me support families and research? Please consider attending the Purplestride 5k Run / 1 Mile walk June 21st 2014 at Voinovich Park (downtown near Rock Hall of Fame).  I’ll be running the 5K along with many many friends, other survivors, attendees  and volunteers.

Over the past 2 years TEAM ACT (Ammiller Cantwell Tucciarone) has been The Leading Team in Fund Raising……finishing #1 in 2013 and #3 in 2012.  In 2012 I was asked to give the survivor speech.

My Team Mates……Mike and Matt….are 2 of my closet friends in the world.  Each of our families have been significantly effected by Pancreatic Cancer.

  • Matt Ammiller’s father Don passed away in 2012 from a stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
  • Mike Tucciarone’s Mom Kathy was diagnosed in 2006 and survived through an aggressive surgery and recovery.
  • I survived only because of God's blessing and the steady hands of my surgeon Dr Matthew Walsh on November 21st 2011.

We have a big fight against Pancreatic Cancer on our hands and many, many patients are loosing this fight.  Please help us change the odds.  Purplestride Cleveland Walk Run is June 21st 2014  at Voinovich Park (downtown near Rock Hall of Fame).

Be Daring,

Josh Cantwell
